DANIEL MCGUIRE
Flagler College,
St, Augustine, FL
Level Played: NCAA Division Two
McGuire, a midfield/forward player made 50 competitive appearances for Flagler College netting 17 goals and 10 assists and a career high 44 points. McGuire lost the 2021 season due to a horrific double leg fracture. He recovered to play a fundamental part in the 2022 season - his final season for the Saints. In 2022 McGuire played all 17 games, ranking first on the team for points (15) - remarkable given the previous injury suffered. He notably grabbed two goals and an assist in the PBC semi-final victory over Clayton State. McGuire features multiple times inside the “top ten” on many of Flagler’s all-time statistical program records. Particularly, noteworthy, is that in Flagler Saints era as an NCAA Division 2 program where McGuire ranks 1st overall for points per game (9) and assists per game achieved against Trinity Baptist 2019. He ranks 2nd overall for goals per game (3) achieved against Lander and Trinity Baptist, also in 2019. In 2019 McGuire earned PBC Player of the Week honors (Nov 11); made the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second-Team and made the coaches All-PBC First-Team. McGuire graduated May 2023. Another huge highlight of recent times was when Scholarship Connect arranged for McGuire to meet his footballing hero - Alan Shearer - and watch the Newcastle United v Manchester United Premiership draw at St James’ Park in December 2021. The ‘behind closed doors’ meet was a ‘pick-me-up’ for the tremendous bravery and rehabilitation work McGuire had put in to get his career back on track after the horrendous leg fracture.
